I turned on the Tibetan keyboard (Word2007) and typed all the Tibetan
happily in my document with the default font, Microsoft Himalayan, but
when I closed the document and opened it again, all the Tibetan had
changed to Arial Unicode -- but all the special positioning of
characters (they can make a stack of up to five items) was gone!

And Find could not find Arial Unicode; but if I searched Microsoft
Himalaya, it found the examples, and if I Replace with Microsoft
Himalaya, everything went back to how it was supposed to look!

Except the Find procedure seemed to be blocked when it got to a Table:
it didn't change the text in the tables, and it didn't change the text
in text _after_ the tables; I have to select each instance
individually.

It happens each time I open the file.

It doesn't happen when I use any other exotic fonts.

A pdf comes out fine.

? I've been using Arial Unicode for years, and it's the default font
for a lot of the exotics. For a few scripts, it's even the best-
looking alternative! Maybe the latest version (with all the stuff that
XP/Word2003 couldn't handle, since they never updated for Unicode
after 2001) installed itself when I set up Vista to use complex and
Asian scripts.

I can make no suggestions re Tibetan support. However, Arial Unicode is not
installed by the default install of office. Navigate to Control Panel
Programs and Features   Microsoft Office  Add or remove features    Office
Shared features    International Support   Universal Font.
