There are two ways to approach the settings for the printer. One is to
navigate to the listing of the printer in Control Panel Printers
<either> Properties Printing Preferences <or> Printing Preferences. Don't
be surprised if Collate is grayed out until you select to print more than
one page. With some drivers, you have to select the Advanced options.
Derails differ with Windows version and driver.
The other is through the dialogues on Word's File menu. The details
differ with Word version but it is quite obvious in Word 2007, I think.
Select the 'Orb' Print Print.
Typically, collation, whether it is host or server-based or handled by
hardware or software, should be transparent to you and totally controlled by
the settings provided in the driver software however accessed. You might
have tried these settings -many times- by now.
Let us know.

Post by KarenI'm using a Xerox Phaser 8500 with Word 2007. The checkbox in the Word
printing dialog has no effect at all.
There is apparently some way to force host collation (rather than just
sending one copy to the printer with a command for multiples) but I can't
figure out how to do that in Word.
Thank you.
Post by Tom FergusonIt would be useful if you gave us some information-
The make and model of the printer, the source and version of the printer
driver, the version of Windows and Office/Word.
Also, details of the options you selected from the print dialogues.

Post by KarenMy printing jobs are not being collated even though the box is checked.
A colleague has suggested that Word thinks my printer has more
capability than it does. I applied a registry fix for Acrobat but my
Word documents are still printing mproperly. Is there any way to force
"Host" collation from within Word?
Thank you.
