have just changed from win2000pro to xp and still using word 2000, and am
having strange problems using the goudita font we have always used. using
the goudita sans sf in "normal" has never previously been a problem, but
now in word 2000 it will not display or print in anything but italic,
although just now it would but only in 10pt size and all other sizes showed
and printed in italic!! the box at the head of the word bar also shows the
goudita sans sf graphically as italicised in the drop down box although the
font as listed in control panel appears to be the "normal" one.

any help very gratefully accepted as this is our main font and have been
unable to issue any documents. thanks in advance.

Off-hand, it sounds like you don't have all of the font family
installed, but only an italic version - which has the same family name
and menu name. [You don't say what you see when you double click on
the font file in the control panel/fonts folder]. When you say that
"THE" font is listed in control panel, that implies that only one file
is there, when for that family there should be eight varieties of
Goudita Sans SF (Normal, bold, italic, bold-italic, heavy bold, heavy
bold-italic, light, and light-italic).

These fonts from Brendel Informatik / Softmaker were included with
various versions of Serif Page Plus (they might still be).

When available as separate files, you should ALWAYS use supplied bold
and italic variants. If you don't install them, MSWord produces faux
bold (artificially fattened) and faux italic (slanted - not designed)
versions.

may have to uninstall/reinstall or repair...............a friend of
mine had that happen last year and he tried both (above listed) and
finally one or the other thing fixed it :)
