Hi - (Word 2007) I have a user who is trying to print an envelope using small
caps, but it's not working. She has the text formatted as small caps,
highlights the text, clicks the Envelope button on the Ribbon, the address
displays correctly, but prints in upper and lower case. In the Envelope
Address Options, she has small caps checked, but the envelope doesn't print
the way. Any suggestions on why this would be happening? Thanks!

Select the text in the Address window and press Ctrl+Shift+K or right-click,
choose Font, and select Small Caps.

Hi Suzanne,

Thank you for your response. Sorry about my slow response back - for some
reason, I never get notified anymore when someone responds to me, even though
I check the notification box for every question.

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to give that a try.

This is something we figured out:
When my text was formatted in the document as small caps, and I also chose
small caps in the *envelope options*, Word changed the text to upper and
lowercase.

When my text was formatted in the document as small caps, and I did not
change anything else in *envelope options*, my envelope printed in small caps.

When I had my text formatted as “regular” upper and lowercase in the
document, and used small caps in the envelope options, the envelope printed
in small caps.

So, it looks like you only use the envelope options if you’d like the
envelope to print in a way other than how it’s formatted in the document.

Not sure if that is true in every case, but we experimented with it quite a
bit and had the same results each time.

Thanks again for your time! :)

"Small caps" is a toggle (like Bold, Italic, etc.), so if it was
already on, by selecting it you turned it off, and vice versa.

"grammatim" has already explained the reason for this. As for the
notifications, they haven't been working for some time now. We've complained
to MS and requested that they stop offering something they obviously can't
deliver, but so far our pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
