Hi. I had to reformat my computer and reinstall Office 97 and Word 2002.
Stop laughing. ;-) Using Win-Me, pentium 4. Anyway, when I installed
Word, there was an option to install some extra fonts. I 'bookmarked' it
in the help file and planned to install later. When I tried it find it
again, my 'bookmark' disappeared from help, and I couldn't find the
right files. I found a file marked 'fonts' on the cd, but it only had 2
fonts, and I know there were a bunch.

So I tried to uninstall and reinstall Word. Didn't get the bonus fonts
choice again.

So then I tried to use system restore and it said it couldn't restore.
That bites. Once you install Office you're doomed? Just kidding, I don't
want to be mean. :-)

Anybody know how I can get all those fonts? Anybody have a list of what
fonts are included? Thanks!

There is no "Word 2002" for the PC. I'm guessing that you mean Office
97 and Word 2000. Hmm. There is a "Works 2002" that included a
version of Word, and has a different set of included fonts.

The 151 additional fonts on the Office 97 Pro CD are in
VALUPACK/MSFONTS. They're also in the same place on the Office 97
SR2(Service Release 2) CD.

I don't have the stand-alone Word 2000 CD, but in the Office 2000 CD I
see that fonts directory with the two Tahoma fonts, so it may be the
same. The extensive collection of fonts is in a compressed .cab file.
On the Office 2000 Pro it's a 30 megabyte file on CD-2 named
OFFCD2_1.CAB.

On WIndows ME, to extract files from the CAB file you can either use
Winzip or find the dos command-line program "Extract.exe", which is
usually somewhere on one of the CD's.

To see what fonts are supplied with various Microsoft Products, see
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/default.aspx

You can either pick you product and get a list of the included fonts,
or select a font and see what products include it.

There most certainly is a Word 2002; it (along with Excel 2002, Outlook
2002, PPT 2002, Access 2002) is part of Office XP.

Oops. Of course. I forgot that XP=2000. That's what I get for spouting
off the top without checking. And before my first cup of coffee.
Thanks for the correction. I hope I didn't mislead Betsy too much.

No, XP = 2002. The Windows versions so far are/have been:

Word 1.0
Word 2.0
Word 6.0
Word for Windows 95 (v. 7)
Word 97 (v. 8)
Word 2000 (v. 9)
Word 2002 (v. 10)
Word 2003 (v. 11)
Word 2007 (v. 12)

Reportedly, the next version will be 14. Except for Office XP, the name of
the Office version has been the same as the Word version from Office for
Windows 95 on. I think Word 6.0 was part of Office 4.

Follow-up

I just found the Works CD that came with my wife's ME laptop (see,
you're not alone!)

If in fact your version of Word was from the MSWorks 2002 CD, the 43
additional fonts are in a folder MSWorks/Fonts.

I have Word 2002. Looking at it now :-) I have a Sony Vaio bought in
2/2002 that came with Word but not Works. Therefore don't have a
msworks/fonts folder.

Go to Windows | Add/Remove Programs and select Word 2002. Click Change. This
will allow you to add and remove components. Expand each component that has
a + beside it, and you'll probably find an "Additional Fonts" item or the
like. Check "Run from My Computer." Or just select everything and choose
"Run All from My Computer" (or do a Complete install). Supply the
Word/Office CD when prompted.

Ok. I already did this before I wrote in. There is no 'Additional Fonts'
item or anything about fonts. I expanded every category, even those that
seemed unlikely.

Any other ideas? Thanks!

Check under Office Shared Features Additional Fonts.

If you have an edition of Office 2002 which consists of more than one
CD, check on the CD that contains Publisher by running Setup from that
CD and selecting Custom Install. If you have just Word 2002 rather than
the complete suite, the fonts must be on the single CD and you have
simply overlooked them.

The same fonts are found on the Office 97 CD as Character mentioned.
Well, perhaps there might be one to a few more with Word 2002. They are
in the Office 97 Value Pack on the CD.

At one time, some of these fonts were available from Microsoft by
download. I believe Tahoma still is althought it is not easy to find.
These fonts were "updates" to include the Euro symbol. Now that
Euro-inclusive fonts have been included in all recent Office and Windows
versions, these have been withdrawn.
