The font used on the bookcover at
1400044731.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V57219386_.jpg is escaping me. The closest
thing I can find is Huxley Vertical, which isn't quite right (and the
version I have has no lowercase). Can anyone provide a clue?

Thanks, Tom. That's a tad better than Huxley but still not quite right. The
E and F need to be curved, without right angles. It was for a poster I had
to have by today, so I went ahead and used Huxley. It's not really
important, and I suspect no one will really notice the difference. The
poster will stay up only a brief time (it's for a weekly book review
program), so it's not the end of the world. I just try to match the book
cover font whenever possible.

That's not a bad match either. However, note the difference in the
majiscule A among a few subtle differences.

I wonder if those differences are from the use of a different font or
some artistic manipulation for the cover ...

Hi;
That is certainly possible. However, the thought that is nagging at the
back of my head is that I have seen that font somewhere before.

There are a few others of similar inspiration. Anna is another but it is
not a good match at all even although it has the same flavour.

Ah well, it will probably hit me at 3 in the AM in several days.

It looks like a pretty good match to me, although I see what you're saying
about the A (height of the crossbar). I would have been very well satisfied
with that one (though not enough to buy it for a one-off use). At least it
would have given me something to search on to find a free clone. Thanks to
both of you.

Agreed. Tt is not condensed enough and many of thje majiscules are too
"squared"-off. The majiscule A is interestring.

No, was not thinking of Assembly buit I would not be surprised if there
were a similar SSI/SSK font.

Clones: the Southern Software (SSI and SSK) versions, allegedly cloned
with FontMonger from Adobe originals, were/are named Assembly.
Produced in regular, outline, light, and alternates.

I don't know the legal status of their fonts. They're certainly no
longer offered for sale anywhere, and I can't find more than a few
on-line.

Definitely URW Timbre, not Sol (... I just remembered the typical "E" and

It does look pretty close, though the E in Timbre is rounder, not as much
the rounded-rectangle look. In any case, when I needed it was a month ago! I
make posters for the weekly book review programs; I do them the night before
they're needed, so I don't have much lead time to search for fonts.

Suzanne,
Though it is a hassle, this site has helped me many times.

It will ask you a bunch of "questions" and it will narrow down to a few
familys that match your fonts look.
