Bitmap fonts in Word

I have Word 2002. Even though I have a few bitmap fonts installed and they
can be used in Notepad and Wordpad, they are not available in Word. Are
they available in later versions of Word or is there an available Word 2002
upgrade that enables the use of bitmap fonts?

Bitmap and vector fonts have not been available in Word since Word 97, as
explained in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=163059.
