Hi all,

I hope someone here can help me. This one is driving me crazy! I
have a several users who have a few fonts available to them in
Microsoft Word. The problem is these fonts are not in their fonts
folder. I think I've searched just about everywhere for the foolish
things and can't find them anywhere. I'm having a hard time searching
on this problem. Every hit I come up with shows people having the
opposite problem - font installed in folder, but not showing up in
Word.

I have hidden files showing as well as system files. Does anyone know
where these fonts might be hiding? (I'd like to use them on other
machines.) I do notice they have a non True Type icon in Word's font
drop down list. And I've searched on the fon file extension as well
as the ttf extension.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The usual problem that produces this symptom is the selection of a
default printer. Word checks the printer driver to see what fonts it can
use. Thus, if a user has a printer installed that has fonts in its own
ROM, so-called "printer-resident" fonts, those will list in that user's
font list but not in the lists of other users who have either no default
printer selected or a different printer selects.

So, check to see what the default printer is for these users. Change it
to one that is available to them. If not printer is, select one of the
standard printers and set it as connected to "file" and set it as
default.

Tom, you're a genius! Thank you so much. Changing my default printer
worked beautifully.
